GAME DEV DIARIES
Season 2 Episode 5
Date: 21s January, 2021
TITLE: That moment when...
Sunday was a day like no other. I had just hit that "I'm finished!" button in my engine and I was ready to sit back and watch everything fall in place like chef making pizza. Then... that moment came.
Since last week I had been pretty excited about finishing Mighty Maze. After so long of remaking the game it's finally done. I still can't shake the feeling and excitement that I'm got this chance to start making games. Honestly I never believed that be at this point. Where I'd be slapping my forehead continuously trying to get my game built.
Has it been this long really?
After making this game for six months and going through the trial and error. Seeing the mistakes show up from past decisions when least expect. Or seeing best outcomes from past choices and experiments. And mostly watching people look you in eye with look like "what?" when you tell them what you been up to lately.
And then that moment comes when you waver a little. After going happy trails for days on end and hormones are bubbling with joy. You love the progress you're making on your own and you dream of beautiful futures with each step that pushes you forward and you think it can't possibly get any better. But it does and keeps on as you keep stepping.
Can't it just go you're way to the end
Then you step on a landmine, or a trip wire and boom. Explosion or log in the place where it hurts most. you fall flat and you're injured and for a minute you don't want to get back up. neither do you want the people to see you in your pathetic state. And the most difficult thing you can do at that moment is get back up.
Went a little deep didn't I? Well it's kinda how it felt when I started Game Development. I hoped for way much better to be honest and it's really funny cause I really pictured way better. Like waayyyyy better. However at least I got experience right? haha... experience my foot, I still haven't made a dollar.
Being your own boss and your own employee. Hmmm... people did ask a lot about it last year. I thing I'll write a blog about it and see how it actually goes. Should be interesting indeed.
And the list shall go on
Anyway. I'm wrapping up the game. I finished it last week and I have been facing trouble exporting it. Been tempted to just fix something here and there but nope, I will not touch it. Not like I hate it so much or any of that nonsense but I've done all I can with I learned so far.
I can't to see what game I'll make next or how long it will take. And all the new things and old that I'll pass through with it. And I wonder when I'll start. Let me go think about it.
Till next time.
