Game Dev Diaries S01 Ep 02

 GAME DEV DIARIES

Season 1 Episode 2

Date: 12th September, 2020
TITLE: A New and fresh start

September! this marks 7 months since I started this whole frontier. And now that I think about it, that's so much time that has passed and for the first time I can proudly say
"I'm totally not wasting my life now."
Honestly it's not something that has been a cup of tea and a bowl of cereal. It's like eating stone and adding salt so
it tastes better or adding sugar so it feels like candy. Well that's what it looks like when I tell my peers about my
progress. I know that unless they ask, I can't tell them the amount of work and effort I've put into making this game
especially with the current status I'm in.

My whole schedule from March when I started till August had been so random. There was hardly
any schedule, it was more like a to-do list. But I gave myself at least 4 hours to try to do something worthwhile. This was the special case when in June when I tested my education in Game Dev by game jamming myself to make 4 games in a month.

But that's a story for another episode...

Anyway...

The experience was quite good for me and I learnt so much but the my limits in such an approach of no life balance began to show till it became a massive wall.

I lacked focus and made things much more difficult to get things done and add new items to my to-do list. I didn't have a weekly plan, daily plan and when the new information was rushing in, I thinks it's little safe to say that my mind broke.

Laughing about it, but it's not a good situation to bring yourself in, especially for beginners who are just getting into the grind of not just game dev, but in any field. This is one area I feel many people tend to give and dropout of whatsoever they were pursing.

I watched and read so much content on the internet on how to fix this problem but I learnt that my brain has the best solution to most problems and I had a tough time trying to figure that out with all the clouds running through it.

I'm almost out of the woods though. How I came out of it? I'm crazy that's why. Yes I have to be crazy, but not that madness crazy. I tend to to to incredibly crazy things(Very Legal) to bring me to calm. They similar to screaming in your pillow except this time it's not a pillow I scream into but still makes me feel better. I won't tell unless you ask me nicely.

"SO I'VE GOT A BRAND NEW AND FRESH START"

First approach is this diary which I'll be updating every Wednesday. Starting with small goals like this help out in creating some order in my life. The Game dev business I can continue with it's randomness for the meantime since school has returned to the order of the day. But I believe I can fix things up very soon. Until next time. I close this book.

The first week I decided to reconstruct the levels with brand new and updated software I got in August. Lets call it

"Fine Tuning".

I haven't explained much about the game am making. That will come as soon as the required for that done.
Later.
